Some people think of staging as someone coming in and removing everything and bringing in show room furniture. That is not for your typical homeowner. I like to think of staging as transformation by using what you have and making some small changes to show case you home. Here is a list of simple painless things you can do at no cost or very minimal cost to you.
1. Remove family photos. I know this sounds harsh but you want buyers to be able to see their family living there.
2. Remove all clutter, think about the fridge, counters, desk, all those places we naturally deposit our things that we say we will put away later.
3. Down size whats in your home. You need to pack anyway to move why not do it now. Have a big moving sale or donate those items you don't use. The goal here is to open up space and create comfort. And again the buyers can see their things in the home.
4.If you have lots of different colors on the wall or they are in need of paint, consider painting in soft neutral colors. One of the colors I use the most is Sherwin Williams Full Moon.
5.Finally arrange furniture to make the rooms appear larger. Pick specific pieces of art to hang on the wall be deliberate not random. If in doubt go without.
